Felix Contreras, PMHNP

Currently only taking clients with Medicaid.
As a first-generation Hispanic American and Spanish-speaking provider, Felix has experienced firsthand how culture can shape the way mental health is understood, discussed, and treated. His own experiences navigating cultural differences opened his eyes to the disparities that exist in mental health care, and to the importance of meeting people where they are rather than expecting every patient to fit the same model of care.
Before PMHPN, he served 13 years in the Air Force and continues to serve in the Reserves. That experience has given him a deep appreciation for resilience, responsibility, service, and the many ways people learn to cope with difficult experiences.
His work is also deeply personal. As someone who has reflected on the impact of generational trauma within his own family and culture, he understands that healing often means more than treating symptoms. It can mean recognizing patterns, understanding where they came from, and creating something different for the generations that follow.
Outside of his work, Felix is a proud dad to four daughters. Being a girl dad has given him an even greater appreciation for the importance of creating spaces where people, especially women and girls, feel heard, supported, and empowered to advocate for their mental health.
His goal is simple: to help close the gaps that keep people from receiving the mental health care they deserve. He believes mental health care should be compassionate, culturally responsive, and accessible.
Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, or simply trying to better understand yourself, he brings a thoughtful, grounded, and culturally informed approach to psychiatric care.
